Szewai Lee (C-Y Lee) is a professional dancer, teacher, and choreographer based in Chicago. Her dancing and choreography is a fusion of ballet, modern dance, ballroom dance, jazz, improvisation, Chinese dance, butoh and everyday movement. Ever since she graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a B.A. in Dance in 2006, she has performed with companies including Mordine & Co. Dance Theater and Margaret Morris Dance. Szewai has received two choreographic residencies from Links Hall (LinkUp) and Chicago Cultural Center (DanceBridge) and also a grant from Chicago Artist Assistance Program (CAAP) to develop new choreography and performances. Szewai is an owner and instructor of Ballroom Dance Chicago, a boutique dance studio that offers customized ballroom, Latin and wedding dance instruction. She believes that dance has the ability to create stronger bonds between people and her goal as a dance artist is to help people connect with each other through dance education and performances.
