About Szewai's Latin and Ballroom Dance Lessons

Szewai (C-Y) teaches ballroom and Latin dance to all ages in Chicago. She has ample experience working with both singles and couples who are interested in learning to dance for fun, health benefits, weddings, fundraisers, social events and other special occaions. Szewai teaches various styles of ballroom and Latin dances, which include Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Rumba, Salsa, Bachata, Cha Cha, Merengue, Swing, and Hustle. In her lessons, she utilizes her extensive training in other dance and physical forms, such as ballet, modern, contact improvisation and yoga, to further help her students understand ballroom / social dance. Szewai teaches her students with care, patience and encouragement. In her private lessons, she customizes the lessons according to the students' particular needs, learning styles and dance experience.

Why learn ballroom and social dance?

Learning to dance not only exercises your body, but also your brain; dancing promotes health physically and mentally. Unlike running on a treadmill, when you are in a dance class, you exercise and interact with other human beings at the same time.

How many times have you stood at the corner of the dance floor and hoped that you knew how to dance and feel confident enough to invite someone to dance with you? Learning how to dance the basics of different dances will give you the knowledge and confidence you need to overcome your fear on the dance floor. In Szewai's classes she teaches the basics of popular social dances, and lead and follow skills, so that students feel more comfortable moving their bodies and dancing with others.

Format of Dance Lessons

Private Lessons - Szewai will design the lessons according to the your goals and needs. Whether you are a total beginner or an experienced dancer, she will pay full attention to you and what you need to become the dancer you want to be. 

Group Classes - Along with other students in similar levels, you will learn steps, patterns, lead/follow skills of a variety of popular dances. You won't receive as much attention from the teacher as you do in private lessons; however, you will get a lot of opprtunities to practice with other dancers so that you become more confident dancing at any social settings. Location

Most of the lessons and classes are held at Ballroom Dance Chicago, 4043 N Ravenswood, Suite 105, Chicago, IL 60613. Depending on the teacher's availability, lessons can be scheduled at other locations with additional fees.
